Clan bite Vikes
Former New Westminster Hyack, Kia van Laare, had four points as the Simon Fraser University Clan women's team avenged an earlier defeat to their cross border rivals from Bellingham, Wash., Saturday.
The Clan defeated the Western Washington University Vikings 74-59 to hand the visitors their first loss of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference season. The Vikes had edged the Clan by a point earlier this season.
The victory gives SFU a 10-2 GNAC record and 16-3 overall and moved them up to No. 8 in the NCAA Division II national rankings. WWU fell from No. 4 to No. 9 with the loss.
Simon Fraser hit the road to play the Seattle Pacific University Falcons on Thursday.
