Hyacks fourth at Carney tourney
The New Westminster Hyacks finished fourth at the Archbishop Carney senior girls basketball tournament in Port Coquitlam last weekend.
They began the tournament by dropping a 55-53 decision to the Kitsilano Blue Devils with Meriam Ali scoring 23 points for New West and Camille Sangalang netting 16.
The Hyacks then defeated the Sa-Hali Sabres of Kamloops 67-55 with Ali pumping in 28 points, Sangalang 16 and Izabelle Datayan 15.
In their final game, they downed West Vancouver Highlanders 59-30 with Ali, who was named a tournament first-team all star, scoring 28 points.
This weekend, the Hyacks will play in the Top Ten Tournament at Centennial secondary in Coquitlam.
