Hyack boys third at Gair

The New Westminster Hyacks downed the Georges P. Vanier Towhees of Courtney 79-55 Dec. 21 to finish third at their own Bob Gair Memorial senior boys high school basketball tournament.

The Hyacks had opened the tournament by downing the West Vancouver Highlanders 82-62 Dec. 19, but then lost to Richmond's McMath Wildcats 93-81 in the semifinals.

The North Delta Huskies downed McMath 73-60 in the final.
