Wakefield wins in Victoria
A team from the Royal City Curling Club skipped by Jay Wakefield won a cashspiel in Victoria last weekend.
Wakefield’s foursome defeated Neil Dangerfield of Victoria 9-2 in just five ends in the final of the Vancouver Island Shootout on Monday.
Wakefield’s team won all five of its games in the Shootout to pocket the $4,500 first-place prize. The squad that also consists of Michael Johnson, Paul Cseke and John Cullen has won $8,950 in the four events it has participated in.
New Westminster’s Brent Pierce is one of the tour’s top money winners with $21,400 from five events. This weekend he will be attempting to defend his title at the Wainwright Roaming Buffalo Classic in Alberta.
Sean Geall of Royal City has picked up $12,150 and will participate in this weekend’s $100,000 Masters of Curling event in Brantford, Ont.
