Selects take Carolina by storm

Alex Friesen and Connor Robinson of New Westminster helped the Burnaby Mountain Selects boys junior elite team to win all six of their games in the high school division at the 2012 Charlotte Fall Classic in North Carolina recently.

In their final game, the Selects overcame an 8-4 deficit heading into the fourth quarter to with an 11-10 victory over the Georgia Copperheads.

Burnaby Mountain’s freshmen squad went 1-4 as the youngest team in the Classic high school division.

The Selects’ freshman squad included defender Matthew Buchanan and goalie Niklas Friesen of New Westminster.

The tournament featured 86 teams and more than 30 coaches from NCAA colleges.
