Hyacks JV take down Highlanders

The New Westminster Hyacks stayed in first place in the AAA junior varsity Western Conference standings by downing the West Vancouver Highlanders 34-20 on Thursday.

Mackenzie Ratcliffe was in on two touchdowns in the first quarter, one on a pass to Matt Seymour and the second he scored himself along the ground.

In the second quarter, Jamie Shiho threw a TD toss to Marc Massicotte. In the second half, Daniel Steeves and Tyrone Morgan scored touchdowns along the ground.

The Hyacks lead the West with a 4-1 record with Vancouver College sitting second at 3-2 after a 39-14 loss to Eastern Conference leader Terry Fox Ravens of Port Coquitlam.

The Ravens are 5-0, a game ahead of the St. Thomas More Knights, who improved to 4-1 by downing the Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers 21-7 in Surrey on Thursday.
