Jr. ’Bellies silence Thunder
Kyle Dobbie scored six points and Keegan Bal picked up five as the New Westminster Jr. Salmonbellies downed the Langley Jr. Thunder 12-6 at Queen's Park Arena on Tuesday.
Both scored twice with Dobbie picking up four assists and Bal three. Four-point performances were put in by Brandon Goodwin (3+1), Drew House (2+2) and Chase McIntyre (four assists). Regan Harding also added two goals with Reid Mydske getting one.
New West jumped out to a 4-1 first-period lead and then extended it to 9-5 in a goal-filled second period. The Jr. ’Bellies got the victory despite being outshot 47-42 with Frank Scigliano making 41 saves in the New West net.
With the win the Salmonbellies improved to 12-4 and sit second two points being the Coquitlam Adanacs (13-3) with five games remaining in the season.
The ’Bellies are in Nanaimo to play the Timbermen (2-14-1) on Saturday before playing host to the Port Coquitlam Saints (9-7) next Tuesday (8 p.m.). It will be New West's final regular season game at Queen's Park. The Salmonbellies finish the season with road games next week at Delta (July 4), Coquitlam (July 6) and Burnaby (July 8).
