Thanks to all who helped with 12th Street Music Festival

Another successful 12th Street Music Festival is complete, and to the many volunteers, sponsors and participants that made this happen, a warm and gracious thank you from the West End Business Association.

These local events can not happen without your tireless efforts and contributions.

A special thanks to 12th Street and 20th Street merchants, particularly Lyle and Sandy Longridge, owners of the local Assist 2 Sell real estate office, who came on board early as a platinum sponsor. Also the thousand of dollars worth of advertising from local newspapers and the City of New Westminster's cash and in-kind donations with engineering, police and fire services were priceless.

A special thanks to Last Door recovery centre and the Purpose Society for the many volunteers, as well as the homelessness coalition's 'I's On The Street who kept the streets clean while the St. Johns Ambulance stood ready if needed.

Teamsters Local 31 provided one of the stages and CAW 2200 is so generous with the use of their hall. There were so many individual volunteers from Leah's info booth to Mary's crossing guards, to Adam and Thane's announcing and to Rob Watt and Chuck Puchmayr with their trucks (and sore backs).

Twelfth Street has come a long way since I moved into this neighbourhood 16 years ago, yet we cannot let our guards down and allow a relapse to the problems that existed then. I would never have contemplated opening a business on the street back then, but am proud to be a part of this funky and diverse business corridor, in this very desirable city.

Buy local when you can and rediscover, as thousands did Aug. 5, the 12th Street and 20th Street merchants.

Amber Anderson

President

West End Business Association
