Motorcycle noise needs to be curbed
Am I the only one tired of bikers’ noise around the city?
Of course not, judging by the comments I hear continuously! But who is doing something about it? Apparently, the police can’t, alleging that the Motor Vehicle Act stipulates that tests only be given at idle (which allows the Hells Angels to tune their bikes so they can pass the test!).
On the other hand, Attorney General Shirley Bond has indicated that there is a new law on bikers’ noise in the pipeline (pun intended). It’d better be before the election, but I don’t like pipe dreams! I suggested to her that we use some of the Air Care facilities or equipment to build mobile units that could tests those bikes on the spot.
I dare say that this would add money to the provincial coffers and make our streets a little bit quieter. To sit idle will not make the problem disappear. So let’s start making some noise of our own!
