Provide child care at schools: Trustee candidate
School trustee candidate Jonina Campbell is calling on the board of education to provide child care spaces at the new elementary and middle schools being built.
The extra space, she said in a news release, could be provided through Neighbourhoods of Learning funding.
"Although child care is a provincial responsibility, I suggest to you that by making more quality child care spaces available in New Westminster, not only do we help families better manage work-life conflicts, but it makes our local work culture more attractive," said Campbell.
Campbell, a teacher in Richmond who is supported by the New Westminster and District Labour Council, is making her first attempt to become a trustee in the Nov. 19 civic election.
