Pedestrian hit in New Westminster crosswalk

A female pedestrian suffered minor injuries after being struck in a crosswalk at East Eighth Avenue and Cherry Street Thursday evening.

New Westminster police said she was struck by a vehicle going approximately 30 km/h just before 7 p.m. She was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital where she was treated and released three hours later.

Police say charges are being considered against the driver, although alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
