New West man killed in car crash

A New Westminster man was killed in a four-vehicle accident on Stewardson Way during last Friday's afternoon rush hour.

New Westminster police say their initial investigation indicated a vehicle crossed the centre line and collided head on with a semi-trailer truck traveling east on Stewardson Way about 4 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital where he later died. Police have identified him as Norman Wilding, a 52-year-old New Westminster resident. No one else was injured and police say alcohol was not believed to be a factor, however the investigation is continuing.

Processing the scene took several hours forcing the closure of Stewardson Way. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about the incident to contact Sgt. Terry Dhut at 604-529-2496.
