QCC $92K over budget

The final bill is in for the new Queensborough Community Centre and the $8.7-million project came in $92,000 over budget.

A report to council by centre manager Renee Chadwick attributed the extra expenses to additional remediation of wood rot, mould and asbestos abatement for the existing building, as well as to additional geotechnical requirements because of the soft soil workers found on the site.

Surplus funds from other 2013 capital projects were used to pay for the overage.
