Royal City Curling Club gets cash for a new roof
The Royal City Curling Club is going to get a new lid thanks to some help from Ottawa.
Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification Lynne Yelich announced its Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund would be providing $63,000 toward repairing and upgrading the facility's roof and interior wall paneling, as well as adding new insulation to make it more energy efficient.
"We are known four our quality curling ice and promotion of the sport, but as a not-for-profit organization, maintaining a building that's close to 50 years old is challenging our resources and volunteers," said club vice-president Michelle Spannier in a press release. "This funding will help us make necessary repairs and upgrades, and ensure the Royal City Curling Club continues to offer the best curling environment."
