Cash mob to hit Cadeaux

New Westminster's first cash mob location has been revealed.

The target will be Cadeaux Gifts in Sapperton, said organizer Heather Corbett who released the location via social media just 48 hours before it was to happen.

The event planner for Evenate Creative Group has been organizing the cash mob to support local businesses. The idea is to have as many people as possible descend on a local business at the same time with everyone committed to spending at least $20 there.

It's a variation of the flash mob social media fad that has happened over the last decade where large gatherings are arranged to dance or do other activities on short notice.

Anyone who wants to participate is asked to gather at Sapperton Plaza next to Knox Presbyterian Church at 3 p.m., where the group will head to Cadeaux. Afterward the plan is to hit another local establishment to discuss the experience over beverages and food.

Corbett hopes the cash mob will continue evolve into a happening in the city once every three months or so.
