Julian second to PM in MP knowledge
Burnaby-New Westminster MP Peter Julian finished second to Prime Minister Stephen Harper in the most knowledgeable MP category in Maclean's magazine's Parliamentarian of the Year awards for 2012.
The awards were voted on by parliamentarians themselves.
"If voters are to come to see the NDP as a government-in-waiting, it will have to showcase a credible cabinet-in-waiting," said political commentator Chantal Hébert. "In his strategic position as Energy and Natural Resources Critic, the industrious Julian has a major role in the New Democrat makeover and over the fall session the bilingual MP from Burnaby-New Westminster has more than risen to the challenge."
Julian said in a press release, "I am honoured to receive these recognitions for the parliamentary session, but I am very conscious of the fact that the knowledge I am able to bring to Parliament is the result of representing Burnaby-New Westminster, Canada's most diverse and most extraordinary riding."
