BCGEU to go on strike at Douglas College
Douglas College has cancelled classes at its New Westminster campus for Wednesday due to a job action by its support staff.
The B.C. Government Employees Union (BCGEU) announced Tuesday it would be going on strike from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Pickets will be along Royal Avenue and on Eighth Street.
There are 275 Douglas College support staff represented by the BCGEU at the New West campus. On Nov. 2, Douglas College support staff voted 77 per cent in support of strike action. They have been without a contract since June 30, 2010.
Classes will resume on Thursday.
