Trucks ticketed in two-day crackdown
Tickets totaling $43,000 and 114 violations were handed out during a two-day commercial vehicle safety crackdown at several locations throughout New Westminster.
According to a New Westminster Police Department release, most of the charges were for defective vehicles, insecure loads, speeding and overweight vehicles. The team of officers, which included representatives from the Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement branch, targeted 466 vehicles for inspection on Oct. 2 and 3.
"The majority of vehicles were noted as having minor defects and allowed to proceed for repairs after the inspection. However, 48 had to be towed for immediate repairs," said the release.
