New Westminster starts preparations for possible flood
An above-normal spring runoff prediction by the BC River Forecast Centre on Tuesday has the City of New Westminster making preparations for high water levels on the Fraser River.
A press release said in the coming weeks the city's engineering department will be in the Braid Street industrial area and Quayside neighbourhood getting them ready in case flooding occurs.
The city said the work will include putting equipment in place and building temporary dikes. Regular dike patrols in Queensborough will also continue.
