New West police to help keep peace for Vancouver fireworks
New Westminster police officers will be deployed in and around transit stations in the city on the days of the Celebration of Lights fireworks displays in Vancouver.
The department said the officers will start their patrols in the afternoon looking to maintain public order, deter criminal activity and enforce provincial liquor regulations so spectators can have a safe trip to and from the fireworks on July 30, Aug. 3 and Aug. 6.
New Westminster police's marine unit will also be sent to English Bay to help its Vancouver Police Department counterpart in their patrols.
