Power line plan OK

New Westminster city council approved Monday the school district’s application to waive the requirement for underground on-street power lines when it builds the proposed St. Mary’s elementary. However, the Ministry of Education indicated it would not pay the $300,000 needed to do the job because it wasn’t an educational expense.
