Lantern workshops planned prior to parade
Workshops on how top build lanterns for the Lights of the Fraser Parade for the inaugural River Fest on Sept. 28 have been arranged for the previous two weekends.
The Arts Council of New Westminster is setting up the Arts to Go Lantern Workshops for both star and fish lanterns.
The star workshops will run Saturday, Sept. 15, 1 to 4 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 22, 1 to 3 p.m., as well as two hour before the parade on Friday Sept. 28. The fish lantern workshops, which are for more accomplished crafters, will be Saturday, Sept. 15, 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 23, 1 to 3 p.m., and two hours before the parade.
Since candles can create a safety issue, LED lights will be used for the lanterns.
Registration forms are available at artscouncilnewwest.org.
