BBQ Battle at River Market Saturday

Four teams will experience the thrill of the grill on Saturday at River Market's second annual BBQ Battle.

Grill masters from Tre Galli Gelato Caffe, Crepe Des Amis, Donald's Market and Wild Rice will lock tongs in a three-round briquette battle to raise money for the Royal City Farmers Market.

The chicken round begins at 12 p.m. Veggies hit the grills at 1:30, followed by salmon at 3 p.m.

Samples for tasting and judging are available for a minimum $2 donation.

Of course a barbecue can't be a party unless there's desert. So there's also a pie contest that's open to everyone. Judges will score each entry on flavour, crust, originality and the baker's use of local ingredients.
