Royal City Farmers Market AGM on Sunday
The Royal City Farmers Market Association will hold its annual general meeting on Sunday, Jan. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the New Westminster Public Library.
The association's winter market operates on the first and third Saturdays of the month until May 4 at River Market and weekly during the summer at Tipperary Park starting on the first Thursday of June.
"2012 was an excellent year for us with the market continuing to grow," said association president Andrew Murray in a news release. "The B.Ç. Association of Farmers' Markets conducted an assessment on the economic and social benefits of our market over the summer, and the results show that our market is now generatng approximately $1 million in revenue annually for the local economy. Their research also shows that our market has an extremely high level of customer loyalty here in New West."
Local historian Archie Miller will also give a talk on the history of farmers markets in New Westminster.
