The art of Batik

The Indonesian art of Batik will be on display at the New Westminster Public Library’s Ramp Gallery until Jan. 30. An Introduction to Batik workshop will be held Saturday, Jan. 19 from 1 to 5 p.m., giving an overview of batik making and its history and adults an opportunity to learn how to make their own batik.

Children ages 9 to 12 are invited to learn about batik in a two-part workshop from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 24 and 31. Pre-registration is required for both the adult and children’s workshops.  Call 604-527-4667.
