Megacity Tokyo on exhibit
Tokyo's urban development is coming to the New Westminster Museum and Archives.
The Struggling Cities: from Japanese Urban Projects in the 1960s shows how the megacity's urban planning adapted during that decade. Put on by the Japan Foundation through the Japan consulate, the international traveling exhibit will open Saturday (Dec. 1) and run until Jan. 27. Admission is by donation.
The exhibit shows the city's development of urban space unfolds. A special display will describe how New Westminster evoled during the same decade with new transportation routes and a changing landscape.
There will be an opening program featuring traditional Japanese music and children's activities on Saturday starting at 3 p.m.
For more information call the museum, which is at 302 Royal Avenue, at 604-527-4640. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
