New West native gets international scholarship
Julian Sahasrabudhe of New Westminster, who is doing graduate studies in pure mathematics at Cambridge University in England, has received the $7,500 Kenneth Le M. Carter Award scholarship from the Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation.
Sahasrabudhe has received top honors for his scholastic achievement, and won a math competition in Budapest, Hungary where he was pursing a specialized math program. His goal is to use math innovation in other areas such as biology, computer science and philosophy.
"Mathematics is at the vanguard of human knowledge and mathematical ideas can have widespread influence," said Sahasrabudhe in a press release. "[The award] will afford me the opportunity to continue exploring this field that I am so passionate about."
Sahasrabudhe also composes, arranges and performs music with several band as well as teaching sailing.
