Salmon exhibit opens at Discovery Centre
The Our Bones are Made Of Salmon exhibit opened at the Fraser River Discovery Centre last Saturday.
The work took two years to create and was designed around the memories and experiences of Musqueam elder Larry Grant and Stó:lō cultural advisor Sonny McHalsie to celebrate aboriginal salmon fishing and wind-drying in the Fraser Canyon.
The exhibit has a storytelling video and replicas of aboriginal salmon fishing tools. The Discovery Centre also has an education program where students explore aboriginal fishing technology and learn how to wind-dry salmon.
