New West based blogger wins award
New Westminster blogger Jarrah Hodge's Gender Focus has been named winner of the best feminist blog category in the 2011 Canadian Weblog Awards.
Hodge's blog (gender-focus.com) was picked after a month of evaluation by a jury of other Canadian bloggers. The UBC women's studies graduate said neither she nor the other writers on the blog maky any money form Gender Focus.
"It's just myself and a team of amazing volunteer contributors from across Canada sharing our perspectives on feminist and gender issues," said Hodge in announcing her win in a press release. "We cover a huge range of issues, because practically everything has a gender angle to it. And we know not all feminists or their allies share the same interests."
