Ugly sweaters are beautiful things to society

Ugly is beautiful to New Westminster's Lower Mainland Purpose Society this month.

Employees at Community Savings Credit Union branches, including one on Eighth Avenue at 12th Street, are wearing ugly holiday sweaters on the first three Fridays of the month.

People can vote for their favourite ugly sweater at www.wowthatisugly.com and the credit union will donate $1 for each vote up to $1,000.

The non-profit society delivers social, health, educational and residential services for individuals, youth and families who are subject to personal or societal distress, marginalization and alienation.
